Plugged In

Plugged In follows the idea of ‘Silent Discos’. Gatherings (although not necessarily) of people putting on their headphones and disconnecting from the world for a while. Some move, dance or generally express themselves through the shared music. Feeling it, experiencing it. The work showcases just that: different people in different places, listening to different music with different personalities, all with the same shared experience. Music.

For me, the best way to escape has always been music. I’ve been through a lot, and music has almost been like my companion. Putting on my headphones, I could let the music transport me to another place. It has, for lack of a better phrase, saved me. Especially in such a fast-paced, chronically online world, plugging in lets me breathe for a while, lets me feel what I need to feel and express what I need to express.

I made this series to showcase the power that music has. Both as a means of expression and of escapism. I want to blur the lines between the participant and the viewer. Explore the blending of artistic mediums and how far we can immerse ourselves and fall into another world. Each picture is not only a moment caught in time but a soul showcased.

I want to give you something more than just an experience, an artwork to keep revisiting, an artwork to take home and escape with. An artwork into another world.
